Rayuela

A fantastic place! Oh, and it's one of the gay-friendly restaurants :D

I got here before the sunset and I just love the light in Rayuela! What a wonderful scene here on the 2nd floor

Their website has more pictures of the interior if you are interested :D

Rayuela was celebrating their 3rd anniversary in June. This post is about their special menu for this (and now they have the restaurant week menu! You should go try it if you like my pictures!!) This was the Amuse, "Yellow tomato gazpacho infused with saffron and Chilean carica sprinkled with garlic toasted casaba", whatever that means, it was DELICIOUS! Tasty and refreshing.

Ceviche of Erizo con Vieras, it was sea urchin and scallop ceviche with a delightful sauce.

This Caracol con Navajas was another great surprise to your taste bud. The lychee-coconut citrus sauce went so smoothly with the sliced conch and razor clams. ♥

I got to mention their homemade Pan De Yuca (Colombian Cheese Bread) with olive-infused butter on the side, the bread was freshly made of yucca flour, cheese, milk and butter, so rich and so moist that you wouldn't dare to not finish it!! (yeah.. I usually don't eat the bread in order to save my appetite)

Here is a closer look at the center of the Pan De Yuca, the smell of cheese.. and butter.. and ... (* ̄▽ ̄*)

alright, back to the courses, Surena Coquera, "Lemongrass-ginger coconut soup with shrimp, scallops, octopus and clams, sprinkled with tomatoes, cilantro and jalapeno" The picture said it all!

The Pato con Pera Salvaje, Breast of duck (Got to admit I couldn't tell it was duck breast..)

"Tamarind glazed short ribs served with foie gras infused polenta, and a double cooked egg. Topped with lobster chimichurri" The ribs were a little dry to me, but different people have different taste, you may find it taste good.

"Pan seared dorado with sweet potatoes puree and jumbo lump crab meat" They cooked the fish well! Even my bf who avoid fish as much as possible finished half of this!

Dessert, yes, the dessert! Don't you think that was too much?! Avocado custard garnished with poached tamarillo.

And the Chocolate pudding with Acai mousse & berries. The orange ones were the groundberries, ha! I recognized them!

It was really a great dinning experience and would like to come back for other dishes (≧▽≦)

Bruno's Bakery

Tons of desserts! This was my 1st impression to this place and always be.
I have tried many of their famous desserts before, if I have time, I will go back and write about them. For now I will just write about what I had this time. :P

This was Coconut Mousse with a groundcherry on top. Some people maybe familiar with groundcherry, but this was my first time having it (and knowing it's eatable)! Sometimes I see pictures of this cute little thing hanging inside a dried five-sided pod, and always think this is one of most interesting plants on the planet! Oh, the mousse itself was soft & delicious too! ^^

An Italian Cheesecake! If an American cheesecake is meant to be soft, this Italian Cheesecake is dry. The first bite would be "er.. what's this?", but then as you had the 2nd bite, you would start liking it! It had its own special taste~ Like it too!

Kyotofu

I have always been looking for dessert places to hang-out :P
This is not only a dessert place, but a Japanese style dessert place!

This is the Dessert omakase (assortments) of 5, find more details in Read more. (。◕‿◕。)

I would say, you can't go to a Japanese dessert place without ordering a matcha drink! It's refreshing ≧▽≦

Here came the 1st little piece - vegan valrhona chocolate cake.
I think they call the cream part vanilla bean paste, it's not ice cream, but mix perfectly with the chocolate cake (`・ω・´)

Pettie green tea brulee, the good thing about these assortments is you get to try more, but ... they are so so small.. (-_ -a)

The signature sweet tofu, with kuromitsu syrup on top, taste pretty much like pudding with a lighter flavor. The little piece was a dry pineapple.

The passion fruit macarons. Delcicous~

Tada~ here came my favorite of the day! The green tea fudge. Rich rich green tea flavor with rich mouthfeel! Daisuki! ヽ( ≧▽≦)ノ

Then there was soymilk soft ice cream sundae with matcha mochi. After all the wonderful pettie dessert, the sundae was not as impressive, it felt like a normal soft ice cream

The white sesame cake could be more delicious if I hadn't ate all the goodies before >__<
To end this sweet delightful afternoon, there 2 small flower cakes that came with the check, chewy and yummy ♥

Penthouse 808

A Great place for friends gathering with a nice view on rooftop!
Most people come here for drinks and talks, but I am also here for the food ;)

The view with Queensborough bridge.

Saw this coconut crab cake on the online menu, tho I couldn't taste the coconut... the crab cake itself had the right proportion between the crab and the cake :D

Then there was this Red Dragon sushi roll, blue crab top with spicy tuna, there was pepper inside (to make it more spicy >__< ).
The 808, yellowtail with pepper and mango inside, also a spicy roll, I like this one more :)

Moving on to the entree, the Sesame-Ginger Churrasco Steak, I find the meat a bit salty, the mash potato was terrific!

And here was my favorite dish of the night, the Sesame-Seared Tuna with sweet & sour rice. The rare tuna was tender and juicy, pair with the Teriyaki Beurre Blanc souce just made it taste even better! The sweet & sour rice was moist and delicious.

COLORS Restaurant

A surprisingly good restaurant. Globe cuisine (no particular style it means)

It's spacious inside the restaurant, and comfortable, good for groups.
It has an unique menus, I find it interesting that they call dessert "Heaven" and wine "Hell" :P

Chilean Ceviche - Scallop, shrimp, salsa verde & grapefruit salsa (≧▽≦)b
One of my favorite dishes tonight

2nd dish... I should do a better job on remember the name, one of the ingredient is crab meat

Korean Bulgogi BBQ, tender & thinly-sliced rib eye, worth a try!

We also had the Short Rib Ragu, it's a pappardelle dish with padgett farms beef & caramelized cauliflower. Tho the photo didn't look enticing, it tasted really really good!

For dessert, we had the English Triffle, which was a house-made sponge cake with fruit & cream.

And this Spanish Creme Brulee. What was the difference between a Spanish and a regular creme brulee? I find this one tasted moist and softer, and on top those were crisp orange peels, which added a little different taste to it too.

It's all about food ♥

I am not a food critic, I want to share the foods that I like. And hope you will like them too :)

New York is a wonderful (delicious) place for food, so where are you going to eat tonight... ?
